Sam Smith's emotional vocals in “Fire on Fire” feature on the BBC and Netflix mini-series Watership Down, an adaptation of the eponymous 1972 Richard Adams novel, which debuted on 23 December 2018. The story is an unfortunate tale of a herd of rabbits living in the town of Watership Down in England.

“Fire on Fire” follows Sam Smith's collaboration with Calvin Harris on “Promises.” The fiery track, recorded in September 2018, perfectly mimics the beautiful yet ensuing chaos featured in the music video.

The song is notable for displaying Sam's wide vocal range, reaching a lower-than-usual register.

Love Goes is the third studio album by British singer-songwriter Sam Smith, slated for release on October 30, 2020, via Capitol Records.

On March 30, 2020, Smith announced they would be pushing back the release date for the album that was previously called To Die For.
